Check out these great tips provided by hg2
We’re not usually ones to follow the crowd here at Hg2, but sometimes a place is popular for a reason; stylish interiors, superior service, superstar clientele or an action-packed social calendar make the following recommendations the best places to see and be seen in right now.

Los Angeles, Chateau Marmont and Bar Marmont
The Place: Los Angeles, Chateau Marmont and Bar Marmont
To see: Hollywood hotshots
Be seen: Wannabes
The Oscars are fast approaching, and LA will be the place to be when the 82nd Academy Awards roll into town. If old-school Hollywood glamour and notoriety is what you’re after then there is only one choice. Modelled after a French Chateau, this hotel manages to be grand and homely all at the same time and stands out like a huge haunted house on the Hollywood hillside. Aside from looking like something out of a movie set, Chateau Marmont also has an impressive history; it was where Jim Morrison dangled from a drainpipe, where John Belushi died from a drug overdose, and where Britney Spears was kicked to the kerb before a barrage of flashbulbs. But don’t let the a-listers enjoy all the attention - steal the spotlight and prop up Bar Marmont with the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Johnny Depp. As movie exec Harry Cohn famously said, “if you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont.”

Paris, Plaza Athénée
The Place: Plaza Athénée
To see: Models and muses
Be seen: Style mavens
Located on Avenue Montaigne alongside Chanel and Dior, Plaza Athénée is the only place to check-in to when Fashion Week comes to Paris this spring. Style-wise the Athénée is modern yet classically elegant. Decorated in rich velvets, shimmering silks and adorned with huge chandeliers, it’s no wonder it has become the hip hangout of the rich, famous and downright fabulous. The restaurant, presided over by Alain Ducasse, is also highly recommended and serves delicious cuisine with spectacular French flair. Not only did this stunning hotel provide the setting for the final episode of Sex and the City, but everyone from Beyonce to Amy Winehouse has stayed here. If you’re not sure you can afford the price tag yourself, pop in for afternoon tea or a cocktail in the evening. The perfect excuse to get all dressed up in your designer finery.

London, The Wolseley
The place: The Wolseley, London
To see: London luvvies
Be seen: Fabulous foodies
The Wolseley is a haven of glamour and grandeur amidst the traffic-choked chaos of the British capital. The building began life as a showroom for Wolseley Motors Limited back in 1921, but has since become a fabulous destination restaurant that has snagged itself more column inches than the celebrities it entertains inside. Drawing on architectural influences from Venice and Florence, the interiors are incredibly chic and provide the perfect backdrop for those who like to make a show out of supper. The fabulous reputation of the Wolesley can be credited mainly to the hard work of Christopher Corbin and Jeremy King - the masterminds also behind Le Caprice and the Ivy. Indeed, it’s so popular that you might just have to settle for breakfast if you don’t have the pulling power to get a table for dinner - but with Caviar Omelette on the menu, we very much doubt you’ll be complaining.

Dubai, Emirates Golf Club
The place: Dubai
To see: Sporting superstars
Be seen: Social butterflies
Putting its mark on the international sporting world, Dubai hosts the PGA Dubai Desert Classic golfing tournament in January and February at the Emirates Golf Club and the world’s most affluent horse race, the Dubai World Cup, in March. These promise to be star-studded sporting events to say the least, with plenty of scope for rubbing shoulders with the high and mighty (although it’s unlikely you’ll see Tiger Woods on his own golf course design at Al Ruwaya – apparently he’s laying low). If you want to practise your own swing, the stylish Arabian Ranches or the lavish Montgomerie are excellent choices. The perfect scene for, er, scenesters, Dubai famously blends high-society with high-stakes sporting action.

New York, Soho House
The place: Soho House New York, NYC
To see: Media bigwigs
Be seen: Ladies-and-gents-about-town
Sophisticated, sceney and notoriously hard to get into, Soho House New York is where everyone who’s anyone is being snapped for Page Six. Like its London outpost, Soho House New York is a fiercely-guarded members club – so the best way of ensuring you have access to the rooftop pool is by booking yourself a room. But don’t worry, you’ll be kept in the manner to which you’ve undoubtedly become accustomed with sumptuous suites characterised by brick walls, exposed wooden beams and dazzling chandeliers. Aside from holing up in your room or swanning about in barely-there swimwear on the roof, pamper yourself at the Cowshed Spa or book a much sought-after table in the restaurant. With views out over the surrounding Meatpacking District, you’ll know you’ve made it.
