Brisbane lies on the brown Brisbane River and is a developed city with a dominant skyline. This building work commenced in the 1970's, however, it did manage to retain some of the beautiful old colonial buildings. The city lies in a perfect position, with the Sunshine Coast 2 hours north and the Gold Coast 1 hour to the south. If you're staying in the city, there are things to see and do. The riverside area to the south from the city is now known as Southbank and is worth a visit. Alternatively, head for the Brisbane Botanical Gardens which has an amazing selection of plants and trees. If you couldn't give a XXXX, try the Castlemaine Brewer tour!
